Finishing up my first week back at work. The whole commute thing is something to re-introduce to my system. It’s totally kicking my butt this week. Two years and four months away from the transportation shuffle. But we’ll get there. I’m not complaining. The company is good and the job is a bit of disaster recovery. But – again – I’m not complaining.
The coming week will be interesting. On Saturday we have a wedding to go to, which has been planned for months. It’s further down the Shore and we have hotel rooms for the night. Also on Saturday is the town-wide tag sale that Chris has been psyched about for months. (He is going to the wedding, too.) He has pulled boxes out of everywhere to organize and overprice for sale. He’s hoping to make millions! Actually, it’s a good project for him right now and I’m helping where I can. We also have the extra dogs 24/7 for the next two weeks. Again – this was established over a month ago, though the exact timing was never known (or – at least – told to me). I am praying for lovely weather… ALSO I am going to DC. There is a conference early in the week that my predecessor was scheduled to go to, so I am taking her place. We also need a new car soon since we are down to one and a rental. Also need to get a plumber in… soon. I even have one left over plant that has been sitting in its pot outside for a week because I never got around to planting it with the rest.
So right now the house is full of boxes and dogs and people running in and out to work at odd hours. Yes – after last week’s full-on explosions, we could probably do with a fewer activities. (I’ve already dropped out of the play I was rehearsing.) But all we have to do is get to Friday and we should be okay. And I’m not complaining. Really.

Man…I go on vacation to Florida to golf for a week (85 and sunny every day), and all hell breaks loose. Congrats on the job, although I know that commuter fun, driving up and down I-95 every day. Hope Chris makes his first million this weekend, and have fun at the wedding!

Sometimes I wish I were driving to work. At least you can come and go when you please. Enjoy the golf! Say ‘hi’ to Tiger for me.

Carl, how DO you commute from where you are? Ferry? And if so, how nasty expensive is that?

For frugality, I take the bus in the morning. For my sanity, I take the ferry back at night. One is an hour and a half and the other is twice as expensive but only takes 50 minutes.
