Do you ever do this? You’re sitting in front of your computer – and you’re bored – so you play “Where are they now?” with the Google search engine. You start with your name (useless). Then you put in names of kids you knew in high school and try to decide whether they are really that lawyer in Perth or are once again an 18 year old in Syracuse. Then you search for old actors or pop stars you haven’t heard about in years. Now I had a couple of stray 70s tunes in my head, so I went searching.

And do you know where old pop stars go?

Branson.

So – here you go! If you need to see Paul Revere & the Raiders (“Kicks”, “Indian Reservation”):

or you long to hear Jim Stafford again (“Swamp Witch”, “Spiders & Snakes”):

http://www.jimstafford.com/

just head out to Missouri

But don’t expect to see Raider’s lead singer Mark Lindsay. He’s now a DJ in Portland, OR:

Enjoy. I knew you wanted to know these things…

it was very unfair of you to post Mark Lindsay’s site. He has aged remarkably well. Better than I am, actually. Feh.

BTW – The CD of his first two records should be arriving soon. Don’t wear it out.

The Milford Oyster Festival! In the last few years:
Smithereens
Spin Doctors
Blue Oyster Cult
Southside Johnny

Come on – those are still viable acts. Let me know when the Captain & Tennille show up.

Have you seen the Smithereens recently? I dont know how viable they are anymore. And you cant be a viable band when your biggest gig every year is playing a Mike and the Mad Dog fund raiser at Coney island which Southside Johnny does every year.

They both still play Jersey regularly. Southside has his annual New Year’s Eve show. AND I think there is a new album out there (of Tom Waits covers, I think). The Smithers I could care less about ever since what’s-his-name ran for office as a right-wing horse’s ass.

Why do you think I avoid the Oyster Festival like the plague?? Bad bands who I didn’t like when they were new and people from town that I don’t want to see. I can’t stand when someone you barely knew and didn’t hang out with in high school comes up to you at these things like they are your long-lost pal. Go away!! By the way..did you get the new place yet? Take it easy over there!
