“Sweeny Todd - Original Soundtrack” Len Cariou and Angela Landsbury. This music rocks - ask Tim Burton…
DJ Shadow -”The Private Press”
Brazilian Girls - “Talk to la Bomb”
PiL - “Second Edition” The CD version will do until I can record the Metal Box.
Jewel - “Pieces of You” Stop sniggering. Most of you never heard her real first album. I bought this early and saw her play at the late, lamented club Tradewinds on the Jersey Shore. She was straight forward and a lot of fun. Then one of the singles hit, she got a video, a stylist and REPRODUCED the whole record. This is the original recording.
Roisin Murphy - “Ruby Blue”

Also - Tim Curry - “Fearless” Just the three big singles. They were perfect hits - especially in the days when they would start the midnight festivities at Rocky Horror. Only put on CD once in a greatest hits collection that now goes for $100 on eBay. Luckily, I have vinyl.

Sniggering?!? Snickering maybe…or in Mike’s case, probably downright laughing.

I have to admit we have that CD too. And it is pretty good, although around the same time was Joan Osborne’s Relish and that’s a great CD.

Have you heard the Into the Wild soundtrack by Eddie Vedder? I can’t stop listening to it and the movie was good too.

I haven’t heard any of it yet. Is it “easy listening” Eddie or mostly intrumental Eddie?

“Sniggering” - British term for snickering.

If you want to listen to the album of the year, pick up the new Eagles record. 3 words: A-MA-ZING!

Im just kidding. Into the Wild is an awesome record but that is coming from the guy that has every album by every member of Pearl Jam’s side projects so I may be just a little biased.

The worst thing DJ Shadow could have done for his career was to make his first record Endtroducing. Why even make another record? Something similar ive been listening to a lot is Kid Koala - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It’s not Endtroducing’s equal but its darned close.

Jewel?? The Eagles??? I now have to listen to 24 hours of Tool just to cleanse my brain of those names!

  5. Terry October 29, 2007 9:48 am

24 hrs of Tool would be way too much! But better than this…

Sean was singing/humming a song the other day. I said what song is that. He said it’s “Soldier Boy”

Which I discovered was Soulja Boy. He heard it on his friend Megan’s cell phone.

    Help!

Soulja Boy, huh? You should hear what my son puts on his cell phone for me to listen to whenever I call him. The whitest gansta in captivity!

I LOVE that the new Eagles album is sold EXCLUSIVELY by Wal-Mart. How do you spell “sucks”?

Speaking of that, who is the marketing genius that figured out that millions of idiots would listen to that absolute piece of @#*$ Soulja Boy? A great accomplishment, producing the WORST song in the history of songs! The Druids chanted better than that piece of @#*&!!!

I just listened to “Soulja Boy” and i refuse to believe that something that exists. My theory is that we are all involved in some kind of terrible collective nightmare. I am now going to punch my dream self in the face and hope that I wake up.

    Boys! Boys!

Remember - it’s just pop music. Must pop music is not made for you and I. It is just cheap, easy, disposable entertainment. That is why we get the Archies or Soulja Boy.

    Or Britney Spears.

You need to face up to the fact that you have issues.

Yes, your life may not be a bed of roses, 24-7, but bailing out to go to Kuwait is just bandaging the symptom, not making the underlying cause go away. You might as well take alot of drugs, they’ll have the same effect..numb you to the pain.

You need to fix you, not run away. You need to find contentment with what you have and think about the wreckage you will leave behind…a family that will never, ever be the same.

Your not the only dude who goes though a mid-life crisis, it only feels that way.

It is time to man-up and face your responsibilites.

    A friend.

To the coward anonymously posting as “friend” - let me tell you that Carl has been nothing but supportive of my career all these years. It is my turn, my honor and my pleasure to do the same for him. Destroying a family? Please. Clearly, you have no idea who we are. We have been allies and friends and partners on this journey for a very long time.

    Our family is solid.

And you are no friend. I dare you to reveal yourself. Otherwise, keep moving.
